To help save the Earth, cut plastic bags

I believe that in our Leominster trash barrels, trash bags holding our waste should not be a command, and it should even be strictly discouraged. I think it should be like this because it just adds more waste to our beautiful Earth. As founder of my former school's Earth Club, I have researched thoroughly and have found that plastic is one of Earth's biggest wasteful harms, so even the one change of subtracting millions of plastic trash bags a year is one step closer to getting where we all want to be in terms of making the world a cleaner place. Instead of our all-too-familiar plastic trash bag routine of throwing our trash into our trash bag and then putting it into our green barrels that say "Trash Only" on it, there could be a new solution to our trash problem to make our beautiful ball of land and water stay beautiful. We can change our familiar routine of throwing our trash into a bag and taking it out on trash day to easily throwing our trash into a bin without a trash bag in it and take that out on trash day. It's that simple. Trash already takes many years to biodegrade, and Leominster residents adding 2 million trash bags to our yearly load is definitely not going to get us out of this sticky situation. Therefore, I believe that we should not be using trash bags in our everyday lives. EMMA WATERHOUSE age 11 Leominster
